Thank-You For Making Sake Fest Vancouver 2018 a Success!
The Sake Association of British Columbia thanks you all for attending the second annual Vancouver Sake Fest '18! The entire membership of the SABC was present at this all-day event - which included a sake seminar and a trade portion during the day - to present hundreds of products from sake brewers and importers from Japan, Canada and the United States.
The Consumer Tasting, which was held on the evening of the 27th of September, 2018, was over-sold with a large crowd of enthusiastic sake drinkers and new consumers to the category. All grades and classifications of sake were there for sampling, as well as a special section for plum wine and other beverages.
A special thanks to our army of volunteers who allowed us to put on such a great show, and made everything fall into place. We couldn't have done it without your tireless support!
Thanks again to all those who attended and we look forward to seeing you at our future events. Please stay tuned to our Facebook and Instagram feeds, or sign up for our newsletter at sake.association.bc@gmail.com. Thank-you very much! Kampai and cheers!

Thank-You For Attending Sake Fest '16!
Thank-you all for attending the first annual Sake Fest Vancouver '16: "Samurai to Sommelier". The turn-out was massive and surprised us as tickets to the consumer event sold out completely! Next year, we'll need a bigger space. Thanks to the Imperial and Lonsdale Rentals for their support in putting on this tasting, as we could not have done it without them.
Sake Fest '16 began with an hour long seminar given by Miki Ellis and Elise Gee, both experts in sake and educators. With representatives from the BC Liquor Board and private retail stores present, Miki and Elise gave a wonderful overview and summary of the history, production and appeal of the beverage we all love so much. The Sake Association gives special thanks to both of them for boosting our reach and knowledge to those who are helping to make sake a truly mainstream product in Western Canada. The seminar was followed by a two-hour Trade Tasting, which allowed Product Consultants to taste the wide variety of sake and plum wines - over 80 in all - which they may not have been familiar with. Definitely lots of new products to consider and sample.
The evening brought on the Consumer portion of our event, with hundreds coming out (we even had a waiting line outside) to continue the tasting in a party atmosphere. Along with the sake tables, we had live music, silent movies, contests and plenty of food (thank-god we had enough for everyone). The night ended on a high-note with our guests still vying for a last pour. We would like to thank everyone for coming out, and for returning home safely and responsibly. We are already planning our next Sake Fest for 2017, so look out for updates in the new year. Thank-you very much!
